On an "alumni night" ten years from now, Second Wind skaters will proudly recall Saturday's triumph over Motor City Disassembly Line, the complete shut down of the Detroit team with a final score of 368-53.

DSC_4708Second Wind's lead began early with Thievin' Tyler scoring four points as the bout's first lead jammer. Motor City's Ana Matronique countered with three points, but despite the efforts of Motown Philly and hometeamer Mo Vengeance, who has been with the Windy City Rollers since day one, the score stayed static till jam five when Motown Philly was able to pick up three points.

With 23 minutes left in the first half, it was power jam time with Second Wind's Zoe Trocious scoring 25 points. The bout's second power jam occurred in jam eight after Pish Posh bested Combat Cat by scoring 18 points to Cat's four, bringing the tally to 47-10 in favor of Second Wind.

Swift Justice claimed seven points in jam 10. A held line didn't stop Zombea Arthur from scoring the game's second Grand Slam in jam 11, skating away with every single one of the 20 points available to her before being rewarded with a trip to the penalty box for cutting the track.

After a Detroit time out, Second Wind went on a power jam with Pish Posh speeding into LDSC_4343J for jam 12, earning 15 points in three passes. Tay Q. Down spent time in the penalty box, but returned in time to help Pish Posh advance on the track and score 19 points.

Former Detroit teammates Swift Justice and Pish Posh faced off in jam 16. Swift Justice wound up in the penalty box for back blocking, while Pish Posh fought her way through every one of the five points she scored.

In jam 19 Zombea Arthur stealthily maneuvered through the pack and added 15 points to the scoreboard for Second Wind. That made five jams where Windy City held Detroit scoreless. At halftime, the score was 161-29, Detroit having finally added to its score with four points from Combat Cat.

Genniferal, a former Windy City Roller, finished her time in the penalty box at the start of the second period and by jam five, Thievin' Tyler hit another Grand Slam, adding 25 points. With just over 20 minutes left in the second half, Second Wind continued its game dominance with a score of 236 to Disassembly Line's 33.

Motown Philly found a way to tack four points onto the board for Motor City, bringing that team's total to 39 in jam eight, while in jam nine, Swift Justice took an easy lead, scoring 9. Zombea Arthur completed five passes and skated away with 22 points.

DSC_4062In Jam 11, Jule B Sorry became lead jammer for the first time in y's match-up and made Motor City sorry when she scored five points, and then went up the middle to snatch another four. Motown Philly didn't leave the track empty-handed. She got three points for her team, and with 11:24 left in the bout, Detroit's score notched up to 51. When jam 12 was all said and done, Thievin' Tyler settled up with an impressive 32 points.

In jam 13, Mo Vengeance earned Second Wind three points, while Motor City stayed silent on the score front. In jam 16, Combat Cat earned her seventh penalty by cutting the track, fouling herself out of the game.

The game's only star pass happened during this jam too with Chompers transferring scoring privileges to Mean Streak. Zombea Arthur met Chompers in the final jam, adding two points onto the lead. Final score: 368-53.

MVP awards went to Motor City's hole maker, Mean Streak (80) and Second Wind captain, Tay Q. Down (333), consistently one of the strongest skaters on the track.
